LEJOG ON THE NATIONAL CYCLE NETWORK
Sustrans publishes new Land’s End to John o’Groats route guide
Sustrans has published a new guide to cycling from Land’s End to John o’Groats on the National Cycle Network. The full 1,200 mile route is broken down into 28 stages through some of the most picturesque landscapes in England and Scotland. on what is, perhaps, the UK's most iconic cycling rite of passage.

From, the rolling West Country and the Forest of Bowland to Loch Lomond and the Cairngorms, the guide features maps, directions and recommendations for anyone planning to ride the route themselves or organise a ride for others.

Co-author of the guide, Rob Richardson, said: “As one of the most challenging and picturesque rides in the UK, LEJOG is at the top of many people’s lists of long distance rides to conquer, but until now there hasn’t been a definitive route following the traffic-free paths and quiet roads of the National Cycle Network."

He points out that, “From cities, towns and villages to wild moors and ruined castles, crashing waterfalls and tranquil forests there’s something for everyone. When we were devising the route we wanted to make sure it was achievable for a range of abilities. That’s why there are 28 stages and we recommend taking 28 days. Some days will be tough but others allow you to take your time and explore the local sights. I cannot emphasise enough how exhilarating it is to ride from one end of the country to the other, you really have to try it.”

Very true, Rob. Well said. Now to get a month off work ....
